What this blog’s about…

Hello. My name’s Frances McCarthy.

What do I do? At work, I’m head of the Personal Injury department and managing partner at solicitors Pattinson & Brewer. The firm has a long history of working for trade unions and, acting exclusively for claimants and trade union members, I’ve represented victims in most of the major disasters in recent years.

I’m also joint editor of Jordans’ new Personal Injury book, a contributor to the Brown Book Civil Procedure Rules, and I sit on the editorial board of  the ‘Journal of Personal Injury Law‘. In my career I’ve been a member of the working party set up by Lord Woolf for pre-action protocols, President (and now senior fellow) of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), and a member of the Civil Justice Council.

What am I saying? In hosting this blog, I’m airing informal opinions about legal matters and inviting my colleagues to do likewise!

These are – in general – personal views. Which means that whilst they will often co-incide with those of Pattinson & Brewer, this might not always be the case. I hope you’ll feel free to question, challenge and – hopefully – be informed and stimulated by some of them.

Your comments – whether positive or negative – will be most welcome, and we’ll do our best to fight our corners and respond where appropriate!

Frances
